Gippi Star Cast: Riya Vij, Divya Dutta, Jayati Modi, Arbaz Kadwani, Taaha Shah
Director: Sonam Nair

The flick is about Gurpreet Kaur, ‘Gippi’ a 14 year old girl who lives in Shimla with her mother Pappi (Divya Dutta) and her younger brother Booboo (Arbaz Kadwani). She is overweight, she is insane and is trying to deal including the physical, emotional and diplomatic changes that accompany a growing teenage girl. She loves eating ice-cream, loves dancing to Shammi Kapoor’s songs and is a fun-loving and care-free girl. Many of us could surely relate to this young girl instantly.

She is going through a stage which most regarding us could relate to very easily. She is in-confident, she is fat, she falls off the preside in the class, goofs up with the chemistry experiments, falls down in the PT class, hates the typical girly conversations, has her BFF, hates the high school bitch, is prohibition too keen in boys of her age. It is the story of that transition period of a girl from her teens to her adulthood.

She has to deal for the bullying of queen-bee Shamira the rich, astute and sensual spoilt school kid (Jayati Modi) at school, support with a broken home.
She meets this young, dashing shrieky school student, Arjun (Taaha Shah) at her father’s involvement wingding and falls in love with this older guy. But she is disheartened when he along plus his friends reject hier at a party publicly.

Disheartened by her lover, denounced along friends, immensely undesirable in school, Gippi once and for all revokes back and challenges Shamira, by standing against her at the school elections!

Talking about performances the lead actress, Riya Vij is delightful and could be related to very well. Her effortless-ness shows on screen. And she matches to the level of co-star Divya Dutta easily.

Divya Dutta plays her role of a typical Punjabi single mother perfectly. Jayati Modi as Shamira was once again a perfect cast. She plays the role of an evil, mean school sylph extra well.

Taaha Shah because Arjun including Raqesh Vashisth as the Chemistry teacher were denial explored as much as they could be.

One regarding the most entertaining character regarding the movie was BooBoo, Gippi’s brother played besides Arbaz Kadwani. He was brilliant and was at par with all the distinct actors.

Talking about debut director Sonam Nair, she touched the dire aspects of a girls life carefully. She has touched topics such as PMS, developing chests, waxing, un-plucked eyebrows with sensitivity. The mother-daughter bonding is also dealt with emotionally.

Young Grownups may agree with what is shown, but possible be their parents would not like seeing 14 somethings indulging in green-tee’s, house parties, affairs and hot-bods.

A one time watch, Gippi surely reminded me of my school days.
